From the Desk of David 10/25/2026

Psalm 107:1 (ESV) says, “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!” There is something special about autumn. The air becomes cooler, the leaves turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold, and the beauty of God's creation reminds us that every season has its own blessings. As we gather for our church Fall Fest, we have an opportunity to enjoy more than food, games, laughter, and fellowship. We have an opportunity to celebrate the goodness of God. Fall Fest is about bringing people together. Children enjoy the excitement of activities, families make memories, and friendships grow stronger. But beyond the festivities, something far more meaningful can take place. We can demonstrate the love of Christ to those around us.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 (ESV), “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father Who is in Heaven.” That is what makes an event like Fall Fest so valuable. It provides opportunities for Christians to let their lights shine. A warm welcome, a friendly conversation, a helping hand, or a simple act of kindness may leave a lasting impression on someone visiting our congregation. We never know what burdens people may be carrying when they arrive. Some may be lonely. Others may be struggling with difficulties at home. Still others may be searching for something missing in their lives. What begins as an invitation to an enjoyable evening could become the beginning of a relationship that leads someone closer to Jesus Christ.
Autumn also reminds us that life moves through seasons. Leaves change colors and eventually fall, but God's faithfulness never changes. His love remains constant, and His promises endure. James 1:17 (ESV) reminds us, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” Our families, friendships, opportunities to serve, and fellowship in Christ are gifts worth celebrating. As we enjoy Fall Fest, let us remember that the greatest blessing is not found in the activities themselves, but in the people God places in our lives and the Savior Who brings us together.
May our celebration be filled with laughter, gratitude, kindness, and genuine Christian love. And may everyone who joins us leave knowing they were welcomed, appreciated, and loved. After all, the most beautiful thing about Fall Fest isn't the changing colors of the leaves. It is the unchanging love of God shining through His people. May God bless all of us.
